Karim Charlebois is an artist based in Montreal whose practice focuses on wood sculpture. His approach serves as a response to an overly digitalized world, where this dizzying infinity manifests through an overdose of images, stimuli, and content. The manual work that characterizes his artistic practice reconnects with a certain simplicity, embracing imperfections and honoring the intrinsic slowness of manual labor. Each knife mark visible on his pieces highlights human error, bearing witness to an authentic approach to material and its demands. His work is a continuous exploration of possible forms, all categorized according to a unified study process. He is a co-founder of the artistic collective Field Experiments, with which he explores various mediums and formats blending art and design. Their work has been featured in several prestigious venues worldwide, including the Design Museum (UK), Fisher Parish Gallery (USA), Ventura Lambrate (Italy), Sight Unseen Offsite (USA), Designex (Australia), Le Livart Gallery (Canada), and Moiety Gallery (USA), among others.
